Previous time I sprayed the entire engine bay with WD40. I had done this to uplift the looks and as some kind of rust prevention. This is what it looks now
Compare that with the view when we just bought it:
Not a lot happened since. At the time Jos checked the basics and a lot of things were ok though. see these blogs:
Engine running free: http://monteverdisierra.blogspot.com/2018/04/moment-of-truth.html
I'm now eager to get the engine running again. So next time around I want to check if it sparks. And I want to clean the carburettor ultrasonic and give it a new service kit. If it sparks and the gas mixture is ok it should simply start.
Another thing I already had checked was the color of the engine bay. I think by Dodge factory default it's in the same body color. See this example:
So Monteverdi simply resprayed the engine bay entirely black (by now after all those years the Original brown color is become visible again). I suspect for this activity they must have removed all parts in the engine bay. When doing further checking I noticed some items had missing screws or broken/damaged/replaced.
Missing screw, or is this mounted only with 1 screw and glued by factory default:
Broken screw on a radiator cover plate:
Missing screw, by the looks of it there has been one:
Another one missing, or factory default?
Air intake, different screws and one broken/missing:
Next I noticed some of the "vacuum hoses" had been topped off with screws. I suspect they must have experienced some issue's with it. It's a common fix/trick:
And wow, look at how this battery cable is extended via a huge crown stone:
I also noticed the window washer hose was sprayed brown. I figured that when the montverdi bonnet cover was created/fixed over the Original bonnet it of course had to be sprayed in the same Original body color. So that explains how the black hose got brown.
Last but not least I discovered something else, apart from the known VIN label:
It was also stamped on the chassis, I discovered it when cleaning and removing the radiator cover:
So yes, we have matching numbers :-)
