Bonnet air intake part II

http://monteverdisierra.blogspot.com/2019/01/monteverdi-sierra-bonnet-air-intake.html

I had already noticed the ridges on the Original BMW air intake counted 43 ridges in total. The Sierra intake however counts 64 in total. So I suspected they tailored two pieces together. On the Original Sierra leaflet I had noticed a slight difference in the mounting with a visible split in the middle:

And today it's saturday so I could have this checked. You can see the ridges in the middle are slightly closer to each other (click photo to enlarge):

So time to dismantle, and yes, it were two seperate parts:

And this is what it looks like whithout:

And the centre piece in detail, just some simple strips welded and parker screws to mount it:

The Original plastic air intake beneath was in a poor state as well:

I spend some more time on cleaning the engine bay. The paravan area (cowl) was very dirty and now with the air intake grilles off it was easy to blow out. Again a lot of walnuts came out of it.

I noticed some other small things which I will do some more checks and reporting on next week.
